ABOUT: Delta Sea spent years competing on the New York racing circuit before finding his forever home at Akindale. A New York-bred chestnut gelding foaled in 2000, Delta Sea is by Kentucky Derby winner Sea Hero.

When his racing career came to an end in 2008, Delta Sea came to Akindale to begin his retirement. More than 26 years later, he is still here with us and has become one of the longtime members of our sanctuary herd.

Delta Sea is a gentle, sweet guy who has fully embraced the quieter side of life. After spending so many years at the racetrack, he now seems perfectly content with the simple routine of sanctuary life, spending his days outside with his friends, enjoying his field, and taking life at his own pace. He has called Akindale home for nearly two decades, and we feel very lucky to continue caring for this special old guy through every stage of his retirement.
