TOUR THE FARM

Take a walk through the beautiful grounds of Akindale and experience the farm that our Thoroughbreds call home. Explore our expansive fields, see our different herds, and enjoy a behind-the-scenes look at the peaceful environment we have created for horses in our care. Along the way, you’ll get a glimpse into daily life on the farm and what goes into caring for such a large and special herd.

LEARN ABOUT OUR MISSION

Learn more about Akindale Thoroughbred Aftercare and our commitment to providing retired racehorses with safety, quality care, and a future beyond the racetrack. Our team will share more about our sanctuary and retraining programs, the work involved in caring for our horses throughout their lives, and why Thoroughbred aftercare is so important. Discover how your support helps us continue providing safe haven and second chances to the horses who depend on us

MEET THE HORSES

Meet the 85 Thoroughbreds who make Akindale so special. Each has a unique story, personality, and journey that brought them to our farm. Spend time getting to know members of our sanctuary herds, learn about their racing histories and lives today, and see firsthand the personalities behind the names. You may recognize a former racer, meet one of our longtime residents, or simply find a new favorite to come back and visit.

How do I get to the farm?

The event will take place as scheduled in light rain. In the event of severe weather, our rain date is October 11. Please check our social media pages for the latest event updates before heading to the farm.

Is there a rain date?

Yes! Guests are welcome to feed the horses horse-friendly treats. Treats will be available at our treat station for a suggested donation, with all proceeds supporting the care of our Thoroughbreds. When feeding, please keep your palm flat and fingers together to safely offer treats to the herd.
