ABOUT: Frosted Julip, affectionately known as Jewel, was one of four Thoroughbreds rescued from a neglect case on May 26th by the Finger Lakes Adoption Program. She and three other horses were found confined in a barn without food or water and standing in their own feces. She arrived needing significant rehabilitation, but with time, good care, and a lot of patience, she began her journey back to health.

A local, experienced Thoroughbred handler gave Jewel a wonderful rehabilitation, helping her gain a tremendous amount of weight and giving her a brief restart. During her rehabilitation, she lived outside 24/7 with access to a large shelter and absolutely loved it. She was also taken on a few short trail rides around the fields, including going over a creek!

When it was time for Jewel to be adopted, it was felt that she was a little too difficult and really needed a professional to continue bringing her along. So, Jewel came back to Akindale (she was actually an Akidnale bred horse).

We're very happy to have her home. She has settled in wonderfully and has really enjoyed being part of the herd. Jewel has come a long way from where she started, and we're so happy that she is back home at Akindale.
