ABOUT: Gus has quite the story, and he's certainly one of the biggest personalities here at Akindale!

Gus was bred by a boarder at our facility who subsequently abandoned him, leaving behind a substantial unpaid board bill. Because of these circumstances, Gus was never registered, but that hasn't stopped him from becoming one of the most lovable horses on the farm. His mother, Another Page, also calls Akindale home.

Gus was born with very crooked legs, which meant a riding career was never in the cards for him. He was never started under saddle and has quite literally never worked a day in his life. And if you ask Gus, that's exactly how it should be!

If Gus were a dog, he would absolutely be a Labrador Retriever. He loves people more than just about anything and simply cannot get close enough to you to show his affection. Personal space? Gus has never heard of it! Whether you're trying to give him a scratch or just walking through his field, he's always ready to shower you with attention.

He is genuinely one of the happiest horses we've ever met, and his enthusiasm for life is contagious. Despite his unusual start, Gus has never had to worry about finding a home, and we're pretty sure he thinks his only job in life is to be everyone's best friend.

Today, Gus continues to enjoy his life in our sanctuary, where he gets to do what he does best: be loved, give love, and remind us that sometimes the horses who never have a career are just as special as those who do.
