ABOUT: Helooksthepart, affectionately known as Lookie, came to Akindale in 2019 through Take the Lead after an impressive racing career. Unfortunately, he arrived with multiple significant injuries that required extensive rehabilitation and plenty of time to heal.

Lookie had given so much throughout his racing career, and after a long road to recovery, we felt rather than asking him to take on another career, we decided he had earned the chance to simply enjoy retirement. After everything he had been through, he deserved a life where his comfort and well being could come first.

Lookie officially retired to one of our special care fields, where he could receive the extra attention and care he needed.

These days, Lookie spends his time in the field with his best friend, Swampy Town. The two enjoy each other's company and have settled into the quieter side of life at the sanctuary. After a career filled with hard work and a challenging recovery, Lookie can finally take things at his own pace, surrounded by familiar faces and the care he deserves.

Lookie's story is a reminder that a successful racing career doesn't have to be followed by another job. Sometimes, the best second chance is a safe place to call home, a good friend by your side, and the freedom to just be a horse. We're so glad Lookie found his way to Akindale and that he gets to spend his retirement exactly where he belongs!
