ABOUT: After an impressive 78 starts on the racetrack, Shahzadi certainly earned her retirement! She came to Akindale in 2016 following a long racing career, ready to begin her next chapter.

Upon arriving at Akindale, Shahzadi entered our retraining program with the hope of transitioning into a second career. However, during her evaluation, we discovered that she had fractured withers along with additional back issues that could affect her comfort under saddle.

Considering everything she had already given throughout her lengthy racing career, we felt Shahzadi had more than earned the opportunity to simply be a horse. Rather than ask her to begin another career, we made the decision to retire her permanently to our sanctuary.

Today, Shahzadi enjoys a peaceful life in our sanctuary herds, where her only responsibilities are grazing, spending time with her friends, and enjoying the retirement she deserves. After 78 races, we think she's done more than enough work for one lifetime!
