ABOUT: Social Princess has quite the story! She was rescued from the Unadilla auction in 2022 after we learned she was at risk of being shipped to slaughter. When she first arrived at Akindale, she was completely unbroken, had very little handling, and was practically feral. Needless to say, she had a lot to learn!

With time, patience, and consistent handling, Social Princess began to settle in and show us her potential. She was eventually adopted by someone who had previously adopted from Akindale and made her way down to Aiken, South Carolina, to begin retraining for polo.

She was doing wonderfully in her training, but unfortunately, she began having issues with her stifle slipping out of place. Due to these concerns, the decision was made to bring her back to Akindale.

Since returning, Social Princess has really grown up, both physically and mentally. She has filled out beautifully, matured into a lovely mare, and is a far cry from the wild, unhandled horse who first stepped off the trailer in 2022. Thankfully, we have not experienced any further issues with her stifle since her return.

For a mare who once faced such an uncertain future, Social Princess has come an incredibly long way. Today, she is enjoying life at Akindale, where she has the time, space, and care she needs to continue thriving.

The two photos included are from Social Princess's very first day at Akindale in 2022. Looking back at them now, it's incredible to see just how far she has come!
