ABOUT: Strategic Missile's story has come full circle! Born and bred right here at Akindale, this beautiful chestnut mare went on to have a successful racing career, earning over $178,000 with three wins before eventually becoming a broodmare.

Strategic Missile also has some familiar family ties here at Akindale. She is a half-sister to Coaltown Legend, another longtime sanctuary resident, making their connection to the farm even more special.

Following her racing and breeding careers, Strategic Missile was adopted by one of her former owners, where she enjoyed several years of retirement. However, in 2025, when the property where she was living was sold, she needed a new place to call home. Thankfully, Akindale was able to welcome her back to the very farm where her story began.

Today, Strategic Missile is enjoying life in our sanctuary, surrounded by other retired Thoroughbreds. After all these years, it is wonderful to have her back home.

Her story is a perfect example of Akindale's commitment to our horses. No matter how many years have passed or where life has taken them, they will always have a place to call home here.
