ABOUT: Wayward Son came to Akindale in 2021 through the Take the Lead program with a bowed tendon. When he first arrived, he actually had a flaxen tail, giving him a rather unique look!

We spent the winter and following spring rehabilitating his injury before gradually bringing him back into work. Once restarted under saddle, Wayward Son proved to be incredibly quiet, easygoing, and a pleasure to ride. He was eventually adopted by a wonderful woman who absolutely adored him, and the two were thriving together.

Sadly, his adopter unexpectedly passed away, and Wayward Son returned to Akindale. He was later adopted by another lovely woman, and once again, things seemed to be going wonderfully. The pair enjoyed participating in hunter paces, and Wayward Son was doing well in his second career. Unfortunately, he was later diagnosed with kissing spine, which ultimately led to his return to Akindale.

After two adoptions and some unexpected turns along the way, we decided that Wayward Son deserved a permanent place in our sanctuary.

These days, Wayward Son spends his time enjoying retirement alongside his best friend, Starr West.
