ABOUT: Zipper definitely stands out among the horses at Akindale! With his beautiful dun coloring, he's pretty easy to spot in a field full of Thoroughbreds. And if you're wondering whether he's actually a Thoroughbred, the answer is no!

Zipper was originally a track pony, spending his days alongside racehorses before eventually making his way to Akindale. While our sanctuary primarily cares for retired Thoroughbreds, every now and then a horse like Zipper finds his way into our herd.

After arriving at Akindale, Zipper was adopted into a wonderful home where he became a fantastic trail horse. He was reliable and enjoyable to ride, making him a great partner for spending time out on the trails.

Unfortunately, Zipper later suffered a suspensory injury that required surgery. Following his injury and treatment, he was brought back to Akindale, where he could enjoy a well-deserved retirement.

These days, Zipper enjoys life in our sanctuary, and his unique coloring still makes him one of the easiest horses to recognize. He may not be a Thoroughbred, but he's certainly earned his place in the Akindale herd!
